I always liked the idea of picnics. I would watch all of those movies where the family would pack a wicker basket and a checkerboard blanket and dream about being there. You have to admit that there’s something undeniably charming about a family picnic. Well, my waiting is over, I have decided we will be the family that picnics while enjoying delicious food and the great outdoors. These will be the memories that will stay with my little ones forever. We will indulge in delicious food, spend quality time together, and create wonderful memories. Since my only experience in picnics is over the TV, I have researched how to plan the perfect family picnic. Here’s a guide to help you organize a fantastic day out that everyone will enjoy.

Beach: If you’re near the beach, a beach picnic can be a delightful option. The sound of waves and the opportunity for a quick swim are bonuses. For me, the sea in the Netherlands is too cold for swimming but we have a lake close by so I am thinking of having our first picnic experience there as.
Nature Reserve: For a more scenic experience, choose a nature reserve with beautiful trails and picnic spots. You can make a whole day out of it and show kids beautiful nature.
Backyard: Sometimes the best picnics are the ones right at home. Your backyard can be transformed into a picnic paradise with minimal effort and it can be a great option for a test drive.

Utensils and Extras: Don’t forget essentials like plates, cups, napkins, and cutlery. Unless you cut everything at home, you will also need to pack a cutting board and knife for fruits and cheese. Wet wipes and hand sanitizer are also handy, especially for the little ones.
Blanket: Choose a large and comfortable blanket. If you can, bring a waterproof one as grass can often be damp.
Cooler: Cooler with ice packs will keep everything fresh and drinks cold during the warmer weather, especially if your picnic includes perishable items.
